
ONV Kurupu, ONV Kurupu Kavithakal
Ottaplakkal Neelakandan Velu Kurup , also known as ONV Kurup, was a renowned Indian poet, lyricist, and screenwriter from the state of Kerala. He was born on May 27, 1931, in Chavara, Kerala, India and passed away on February 13, 2016.
ONV Kurup started his career as a teacher and later worked as a journalist, but his true passion was always writing. He established himself as a leading poet in the Malayalam language and was a pioneer of modern Malayalam poetry. His works blended classical and modern styles, and he was known for his unique voice and insightful commentary on society, politics, and human relationships. He won several awards and accolades for his poetry, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 1969 for his collection of poems titled ‘Dhwani’.
